Before we get into this…we advise you to do your food shop for supplies before you arrive. The Quist is a remote location and it is the last mile which is the most inaccessible. Heading back out after your arrival will be something we predict you will not feel like doing.

Co-op (11 min drive), Aldi (18min) Waitrose (21min) Morrisons (21min) and Sainsbury’s (21min) are all located in Hereford.

If approaching via the turn off from the A480, you will have passed through Credenhill. Do not turn into the large Brinsop Court entrance on your right, but continue past it and take the next left turn up a stony track, through a pair of wide steel gates.

If approaching via Tillington Road (Hereford > Weobley direction), do not turn into the small Brinsop Court entrance on your left (HR48LS), but continue past it and take the next left turn. There is a signpost to Bennetts Vehicle Services, which you will pass on your left. Continue for half a mile. Turn right up a stony track, through a pair of wide steel gates.

If approaching via Tillington Road (Weobley > Hereford direction), take the right turn marked Bennetts Vehicle Services. (If you reach the small Brinsop Court entrance on your right (HR48LS) you have gone too far.) Continue for half a mile. Turn right up a stony track, through a pair of wide, open, steel gates.

You will drive up a track with a large field to your right and a low hedge on your left, then continue through an open gateway and through the lower woodland. You will meet the steep track up Merry Hill which turns left at the top of the hill and turns into a single track along the top of the hill. Take it slowly here or take the grass alongside the track in dry weather.

Accessing The Quist on foot

The Wooden Staircase

If you’d prefer to climb to The Quist via the wooden stairs, you can park your car at the bottom of the slope, allowing for access to pass you if necessary please. In good weather the Wooden Staircase (see map above) will take you directly to The Quist.

The Car Track

Alternatively you can take the car track on foot which will take you around 20+ minutes. If you feel this is likely to be your preferred option, it is best to arrive in good time and therefore good light. The steep track up Merry Hill which turns left at the top of the hill and turns into a single track along the top of the hill.

We've never met a vehicle that couldn't get up the track, but it’s your choice. Give it a good run up and stay in a low gear! Reverse carefully and start again if you lose your nerve.

When you spot the solar panels you will know you’ve arrived. Park anywhere near the solar panels and take the track to the right of them into the woods towards The Quist. The property will be open for you and a porch light on, to guide you. Pull on the door handle and the rope simultaneously.

Please note that there is no signage to The Quist; it is a completely private destination. Shhhh.
